Family policies
What families ask before the first class.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
In the pool, and watching
An instructor is in the water or on the step beside every swimmer. At every pool, the pool's own lifeguard is on duty during our classes. Parents watch from the bench, the stands or the viewing window, whichever the pool has, and we ask that a parent or guardian stays on site during every class. Lessons are no substitute for adult supervision.
What to wear and bring
Swim shirts are welcome in every class. Please tie long hair back, wear goggles if your swimmer likes them, and bring a towel. We ask every swimmer to wear a cap in their level's color, and we tell you which color at the placement visit.
When to keep your child home
Please keep your swimmer home with a fever, a stomach bug or anything that spreads, and tell us so we can offer a make-up class. Each pool cleans its own deck and changing rooms, and we wipe down the kickboards and floats we bring after every class.
Closures for weather and holidays
A pool can close for a school holiday, a snow or ice day, a repair or a district event. We tell families by text the same day, and the class is made up in the same session at any of our pools.
Leaving the program
Please give us two weeks' notice before a swimmer leaves, so we can offer the place to a family on the waitlist. What happens to a session in progress is on the enrollment page.
Drop-off and pickup
A parent or guardian stays at the pool during every class. After class the instructor hands each swimmer back to the grown-up who brought them, or to someone named at registration. If someone new is collecting, tell us before class.
Watching class and guests
Brothers, sisters and friends are welcome in each pool's viewing area. Please keep them away from the water's edge and keep strollers out of the walkway. Some pools have their own rule on guests, and we tell you before the first class.
Screens and phones
Please keep phones away from the water's edge. Photos of other families' swimmers are not allowed on the deck.
